March at Island Healthcare: Spring days, simple moments and a splash of colour
As we move into spring, there’s been a bit of a lift across the homes. A bit more daylight, a bit more fresh air, and the sort of small moments that just make the day feel better.
Nothing overly complicated. Just good things, done well.
Here’s a look at what’s been Island Healthcare happening across Island Healthcare this March.
A trip to the White Mouse Inn – Highfield House
Residents from Highfield House headed out to the White Mouse Inn for a change of scene.
A proper pub, a pint, and a bit of time out of the usual routine. It doesn’t need to be anything more than that. These kinds of trips tend to stick with people.
Meet Stumpy – Hazel Lodge
Hazel Lodge had a new visitor this month.
Sally-Anne brought in her new pup, Stumpy. Very small, very furry, and already quite popular. He didn’t need to do much to win people over, which is usually the way with dogs.
There were plenty of smiles and a general sense that he’ll be back before long.
Making the most of the sunshine – Westview House
After all the rain, the sunshine was very welcome at Westview House.
Residents spent some time outside, enjoying the fresh air and a bit of warmth. No big plans, just making the most of a decent day.
Holi celebrations – Northbrooke House
Northbrooke House celebrated the Holi Festival of Colours, which made for a fairly lively afternoon.
There was music, a bit of dancing, and plenty of colour being thrown around. By the end it looked like a paint box had exploded, which was exactly the idea.
A few surprised faces at first, then plenty of laughter once everyone got into it.
What life looks like day to day
When families are looking at care homes on the Isle of Wight, they’re usually trying to picture what everyday life will actually feel like.
It’s things like this that help answer that.
A trip out somewhere familiar.
A visit from a dog.
A bit of sunshine.
Something different to break up the week.
It doesn’t need to be big. It just needs to feel right.
