February at Island Healthcare: Seaside walks, singalongs and a bit of friendly competition
There’s been a nice mix of outings, music, celebrations and simple afternoons together across our Isle of Wight care homes recently. Exactly the kind of everyday moments that keep life feeling warm, social and familiar.
Here are a few highlights from around the group.
Northbrooke House
Northbrooke House enjoyed a lovely ladies’ morning out with a trip to the beach. There were seaside walks, hot chocolates to warm up, and plenty of giggles along the way.
It was relaxed, easy-going, and a great reminder that you do not need a big event to have a really good morning.
Hazel Lodge
Hazel Lodge had a great morning with Si Wheeler, with lots of singing, a bit of dancing and plenty of laughs along the way.
Everyone joined in in their own way, and it made for a really lovely atmosphere. Live music has a habit of bringing people together, even on a normal weekday.
Sing alongs have also been going well at Hazel Lodge! It can start slow but ends up with residents and staff having a great time.
Highfield House
Highfield House marked Chinese New Year with some brilliant celebrations and a chance to enjoy something a bit different.
Craig really smashed it with the food, and it sounds like it went down very well with everyone.
Tile House
Tile House made Valentine’s Day feel properly cheerful with a cream tea social and a Valentine’s dance.
Some residents were up on their feet, others were happy to sit back and enjoy the music, but everyone joined in in their own way. A simple afternoon, well spent.
Westview House
At Westview House, residents had fun with picture bingo. It is one of those activities that always seems to spark conversation and a bit of friendly competition.
