April at Island Healthcare: Four award wins and everyday moments that matter
April has been a special one for Island Healthcare.
Alongside the usual mix of outings, activities and small moments across our homes, we were very proud to come away from the Isle of Wight Care Awards with four members of the team recognised!
It was a lovely reminder of the good work happening across the group every day.
Four wins at the Isle of Wight Care Awards
A huge well done to our four winners:
Gary Sparrow, Highfield House
Dementia Carer of the Year
Craig Bruce, Highfield House
Chef of the Year
Md Zubayed Hasan Limon, Westview House
SESCA Overseas Recruitment Award
Rob Price, Island Healthcare
Keeping House Award
The Isle of Wight Care Awards are always a good chance to recognise the people who make a real difference in care.
Well done again to Gary, Craig, Limon and Rob. Very well deserved.
Below are some pictures from the ceremony!
Birds of prey at Hazel Lodge
In other news, Hazel Lodge had some rather impressive visitors this month when SBW Raptors arrived with two birds of prey.
Residents asked questions, learned a few facts, and some even stepped forward to hold the birds themselves.
Not your usual afternoon activity, but definitely one to remember.
Getting out and about at Northbrooke House
Northbrooke House has been making the most of trips out and fresh air this month.
There have been visits into the garden, ice cream outings, and a trip to Carisbrooke Castle, where hot chocolate and cake made a very convincing case for staying a little longer. A change of scenery can do a lot of good!
Movement and planting at Tile House
Tile House had a nicely mixed day recently, with a bit of movement and a bit of growing. There was an inflatable being thrown around for some light activity, while another group focused on planting sunflower seeds. A good balance of energy and calm.
We’ll see how the sunflowers get on!
Easter and seafront moments
There have also been plenty of seasonal moments across the homes.
Highfield House enjoyed trips out, including a visit to the seafront for some crabbing. Westview House had multigenerational Easter fun at a little party, while Brighstone Grange enjoyed an Easter celebration filled with laughter, music and plenty of treats.
It’s important to make the most of every opportunity to have a bit of fun.
