🍂 September at Island Healthcare: New Launches, Stories & Simple Pleasures
September has been a month of variety across Island Healthcare. From the launch of a new home care service in Cowes to music nights, baking afternoons and a very special story in the local press, there’s been plenty to talk about.
These moments — whether big occasions or simple daily pleasures — show the spirit of our homes and the communities around them. Here’s a round-up of what’s been happening.
🎉 New Home Care Service in Cowes
We were pleased to launch our well-loved home care service in Cowes this month. To mark the occasion, an open day was held at Parklands Resource Centre. It was a chance for local people to meet the team, enjoy a cup of tea, and ask questions about how our service can support them or someone close to them.
Resident Story: Jo’s Return to St Mary’s
Earlier in the summer, Jo — a resident at Brighstone Grange care home and a retired midwife from St Mary’s — made a return visit to the maternity ward where she worked for many years. The Island Echo picked up her story this month, which sparked plenty of warm conversation in the home. It’s always special when residents’ lives and experiences are recognised in this way.

🥧 Baking Jam Tarts at Westview House
At Westview House care home, residents rolled up their sleeves for a baking session. Jam tarts were on the menu, and while they didn’t last long once out of the oven, the real value was in the activity itself. Its all about keeping hands busy, minds engaged, and conversations flowing around the table.
🤠 Country & Western Night at Northbrooke House
Northbrooke House welcomed singer Hannah Nixon for a lively Country & Western evening. Cowboy hats, singing, dancing and a good meal shared afterwards made it a fun and memorable night for residents and staff alike.

Why These Moments Matter
From a service opening its doors in Cowes to a simple tray of jam tarts, these experiences all add colour to life across our homes. They bring people together, spark conversation, and make each day feel a little richer.
As we head into October, we look forward to autumn walks, seasonal activities, and more opportunities to create memories with residents, families and staff.
Thinking About Care?
If you’re exploring care options — whether residential, nursing or home care — we’d be glad to talk. Every family’s situation is different, and our team are always happy to offer advice and guidance.
