November at Island Healthcare: Cooking, dancing and podcasts

November was a busy, fun month across our homes, with a mix of activities, visits and a few nice highlights worth sharing. We also had something a bit different from our Managing Director, which you might find useful if you work in or follow the care sector.

A podcast from our MD

Our Managing Director, Ian Bennett, joined a podcast to talk about the future of care. He spoke about attracting younger people into the sector, the role of technology and AI, and why the human side of care will always matter most.

Curious to hear what he has to say?

Brighstone Grange

Brighstone Grange had a busy baking session this month. Residents made cupcakes, tried some bread and decorated biscuits. The clients and staff got to work and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Those biscuits are looking tasty!

Northbrooke House

Northbrooke had lots of activities and things going on. They had a fun day or music (including an epic conga line) and a bit of dancing. The home also welcomed Holly to the activities team. Everyone is looking forward to making plenty of memories with her.

Westview House

Westview House spent an afternoon making gingerbread men. A simple activity, but it brought people together and created a good bit of conversation around the table. Some tasty treats for residents and staff alike!

Hazel Lodge

Hazel Lodge enjoyed a visit from Dave on the saxophone. There was plenty of singing and a bit of dancing too. It lifted the mood and gave everyone something different to enjoy. So nice to get some movement in when you get into your later years!

Tile House

Tile House kept active with support from family members who joined in with a few gentle activities. There was also a music session with tambourines and instruments, which brought out a couple of unexpected talents. A relaxed and fun afternoon for everyone. :)

Highfield House

Residents at Highfield House were busy this month and made some lovely trips out, including a visit to the local memorial for Remembrance Sunday. It was a nice, respectful moment and an important part of the month for the home.
