December at Island Healthcare: Celebrations, giving and time together

December was a lovely way to close out the year across Island Healthcare. The month was full of celebrations, generosity, and simple moments spent together, all of which felt especially meaningful as we headed towards the end of 2025 and into a new year.

Here are a few highlights from across our homes.

Hazel Lodge

Hazel Lodge marked a very special occasion this month by celebrating Trudy’s 100th birthday. It was a day to remember, with a visit from the Donkey Sanctuary, entertainment from Doug Stephens, and plenty of party food to enjoy together.

Reaching 100 is an incredible milestone, and it was wonderful to see residents, staff and visitors come together to celebrate such a memorable day.

Northbrooke House

Northbrooke House held a Christmas party full of joy and laughter. Mother and Father Christmas made an appearance, with Maurice providing entertainment for the afternoon.

There was great food, presents all round, and a lovely atmosphere throughout the home. Some excellent festive outfits were on show too.

Tile House

Tile House welcomed children from local schools, as well as home education groups, for an evening of carol singing.

It was a really nice example of different generations coming together and brought plenty of Christmas spirit into the home. The evening was clearly enjoyed by everyone involved.

Highfield House

Highfield House enjoyed a range of Christmas activities, including a relaxed afternoon baking biscuits together.

Sometimes it is the simplest activities that mean the most. Spending time together like this created a calm and enjoyable afternoon in the lead up to Christmas.

Westview House

Westview House held their Christmas party on 13 December. The event included a raffle that was generously supported by a wide range of local businesses and individuals, along with extra help on the day from Liz Durkin.

Thanks to everyone’s generosity, over £200 was raised to support future resident activities. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success.

Looking ahead to 2026

December was a good reminder of what sits at the heart of care. Shared moments, kindness, and taking the time to enjoy being together.

As we move into 2026, we are focused on building on everything we did well in 2025 and carrying that care and attention forward into the year ahead.
