Celebrating Long Service Across Island Healthcare
At Island Healthcare, we often talk about the importance of familiar faces.
In care, that really matters. When people stay with an organisation for many years, they build relationships, confidence and trust. They get to know residents, families, colleagues and the little details that make each home feel personal.
This month, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate a few members of the Island Healthcare team who have reached some very special long-service milestones.
Between them, they represent many years of care, experience and commitment across our Isle of Wight care homes.
Rafal Bobrowski
Raf has achieved 15 years of service with Island Healthcare.
He started as a Senior Carer before going on to train as a nurse at university, where he achieved his Bachelor of Nursing.
Raf is a great member of the team and a pleasure to work with.
Well done, Raf.
Margaret Russell
Maggie has achieved an incredible 25 years of service.
She started as a Care Assistant back in June 2001 and has worked across different homes in the organisation. Over the years, she has taken on several roles, including activities, Senior Carer, Head of Care and Medication Lead.
Twenty-five years is no small thing. It represents a huge amount of care, commitment and experience given over many years.
A huge well done, Maggie.
Samantha Groundsell
Sam has achieved 16 years of service with Island Healthcare.
She started out as a Junior Kitchen Assistant in 2010, before deciding on a change of direction and becoming a Care Assistant.
Since then, Sam has worked hard to achieve her Level 3 in Health and Social Care in June 2021, and went on to be promoted to Senior Carer in May 2022.
A lovely example of someone growing and progressing within the organisation.

Sacha Simpson
Sacha has now been with Island Healthcare for 15 years.
He started as a Junior Kitchen Assistant, then became part of the Maintenance team, before being promoted to his current role as Estates Operative and Health & Safety Lead in April 2025.
It’s lovely to see that journey through the company and the different ways people can build a career in care.
Well done, Sacha.

Long service like this matters.
It means familiar faces, experienced hands and people who have helped shape Island Healthcare over many years. It also helps create more continuity for residents and families, which is such an important part of good care.
Our homes are shaped by the people who work in them every day. The quiet consistency. The relationships built over time. The willingness to adapt, learn and keep showing up.
