Puppy Visits, Easter Celebrations & Special Milestones – April at Island Healthcare

As April draws to a close, we’ve been looking back on the moments that brought joy, laughter, and a few surprises to our homes this month.

Here’s a little glimpse into life at Island Healthcare lately.

Reggie the Frenchie Steals Hearts at Hazel Lodge

This month, Hazel Lodge had a very special visitor — Reggie the French Bulldog.

Reggie made himself right at home, soaking up plenty of attention from residents and staff alike. One resident even took him for a long walk with a team member. There’s something very comforting about having a friendly pup around — it was a quick visit, but it made a real impact!

A Cracking Easter Celebration

Residents from Hazel Lodge and Northbrooke House came together for a joint Easter party filled with music, games, and a bit of Easter magic.

There was tap dancing, singing, and even a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny. The egg hunt in the garden was a particular favourite — full of laughter and a few competitive streaks!

These kinds of shared celebrations always bring such a lift to everyone involved.

Smiles All Round at Tile House

Over at Tile House, it’s been a month full of heartwarming moments.

A local toddler group popped in for a visit, bringing their usual energy and lots of giggles. It was lovely to see residents and little ones playing games and enjoying each other’s company. There’s something incredibly special about those cross-generational connections.

We also celebrated a huge milestone — 60 years of marriage for one of our residents. It was a touching moment and a reminder of the many life stories that fill our homes.

Other Highlights This Month

  • Rozelle’s 100th Birthday at Brighstone Grange
Rozelle turned 100 this month and celebrated with friends, live music from Emillia, and a buffet to remember. When asked her secret? “Pure luck!” she said with a smile.

  • Rickshaw Rides at Highfield House
Highfield House residents are now enjoying gentle rides around the garden in our brand new rickshaw. It’s a relaxing way to enjoy the fresh air — and it’s been a real hit already.

Why These Moments Matter

Did you know that intergenerational activities — like toddler group visits — have been shown to boost mood, reduce loneliness, and encourage a sense of purpose in older adults?
