July Care Home Round-Up: Sunshine, Smiles & Special Moments

July has been a month full of sunshine, laughter and uplifting moments across our six care homes. From seaside trips to intergenerational toddler visits, our teams have created wonderful opportunities for resident wellbeing, social engagement, and summer fun.

Here are just some of the highlights from across our homes:

🏖️ Seaside Trips and Summer Activities at Highfield House

At Highfield House, residents enjoyed summer care home activities including rickshaw rides, fresh-air garden time, and even a trip to the seaside. These moments bring joy and promote gentle exercise and mental wellbeing.

Back in the garden, residents also helped out by painting planters, keeping the outdoor space bright and welcoming.

🎂 Family Gatherings and Manager Welcome at Hazel Lodge

Hazel Lodge celebrated July 4th with residents, families and friends, creating a lovely community feel. It was also the perfect occasion to welcome Warren, our new home manager.

The afternoon was filled with smiles, friendly chats, and plenty of cake! Here is a picture of Warren with a resident:

👶 Intergenerational Care: Toddler Visit to Northbrooke

Northbrooke had its first visit from Tots Play Isle of Wight, and it was a huge success! There was music, bubbles, parachute games and plenty of cuddles.

Intergenerational activities, where young children visit care homes, have been shown to boost mood, reduce loneliness and bring joy to both residents and little ones alike. Seeing the smiles and laughter was truly heartwarming.

🌸 Wellbeing Through Gentle Activities at Westview

At Westview House, residents embraced the sunshine with outdoor activities, flower arranging, and plenty of social time together. Gentle creative tasks like these are wonderful for mindfulness and maintaining dexterity while also sparking conversation and connection. Here is a great list from the care workers charity if you would like some ideas on things you can try.

🕊️ In Memory of Dawn, Brighstone Grange

Earlier this summer, we were saddened by the loss of Dawn, a much-loved care assistant at Brighstone Grange. Her kindness and calm presence were deeply valued by both residents and staff. She remains very much in our thoughts.

❤️ Why These Moments Matter

From seaside trips to toddler visits, these enriching care home activities show how we bring joy and connection into daily life. Whether it’s a rickshaw ride, flower arranging, or simply sharing a quiet chat, these small moments make our homes truly special.

As we move into August, we look forward to even more sunshine, shared laughter, and memorable experiences for our residents.

Whether you’re starting your care journey, supporting a loved one, or just exploring your options, we’re always happy to have a conversation.
