Calm, confident nursing leadership

We’re looking for a capable, compassionate nurse who’s ready to lead with care and confidence.

As Deputy Nurse Manager, you’ll work closely with our Nurse Manager to help lead a warm, well-run home where staff feel supported and residents feel safe and valued. You’ll bring clinical skill, good judgment and a calm approach — supporting medication oversight, mentoring staff, and guiding day-to-day care. This is a hands-on leadership role, with a balance of responsibility, teamwork and real connection.

  • Trusted, respectful leadership in a supportive home

  • A clear role with space to use your skills

  • Ongoing clinical training and support with NMC revalidation

  • Mentoring opportunities and shared staff development

  • Pension scheme and hands-on support

What Your Week Could Look Like
You’ll be involved in every part of life in the home — supporting the team, leading care, and being a steady point of contact for families and professionals.

  • Working closely with the Nurse Manager on daily operations

  • Supporting rotas, handovers, supervisions and best practice

  • Leading medication audits, orders and staff guidance

  • Mentoring junior nurses and supporting new staff

  • Visiting and assessing new clients before admission

  • Being a calm, informed presence for residents and families

What We’d Love You to Bring
This role needs someone with clinical skill, quiet confidence and the ability to support others with clarity and kindness.

  • A valid NMC PIN and up-to-date nursing qualification

  • Experience leading or supporting care teams

  • Strong communication and mentoring skills

  • A calm, organised and person-centred approach

  • Basic computer skills and confident record keeping

  • A flexible, hands-on attitude and a team-first mindset

What Makes Island Healthcare Different

We’re a family-run company, and we treat our staff and residents with the same care we’d want for our own families.

For over 20 years, we’ve been part of life on the Island. We’ve built trust by doing the right things, the right way. That’s why many of our team stay for years. They feel respected and proud of the work they do.

Our homes feel like just that — homes. They’re welcoming, well-run, and full of people who care.

So if you want to do real work that matters, with people who truly care — we’d love to hear from you.

Benefits of working here

About the Company

Island Healthcare is a family-run business that has been providing high-quality care to residents of the Isle of Wight since 2003. We currently operate six care homes and a domiciliary care service, serving 160 people. Island Healthcare is passionate about our residents and put them at the heart of everything we do. Our services are designed to meet people's needs and aspirations, including support for medication, personal care, social activity, and convalescence.

We believe in getting to know each resident on a personal level and keeping families connected. Island Healthcare's Hub initiative provides bespoke domiciliary care services and supports the health and well-being of local people. We also provide a daycare service from their homes, providing social activity as well as opportunities to visit the hairdresser, or chiropodist, or take a bath or shower.

The company believes that care should be more than just a necessity; it should be an experience that enriches lives and brings joy.
