We’re looking for a Senior Care Assistant who leads with calm, confidence and care. Someone who sets the tone on shift, helps new carers find their feet, and makes sure every resident feels respected and looked after.

What Your Day Could Look Like

Every day is a little different. But it’s always grounded in kindness, teamwork and good care. Here’s what your shift might include:

  • Support residents with personal care and daily routines, always with dignity and respect

  • Lead by example. Guide your team and set the tone for great care

  • Welcome new carers and help them feel confident and prepared

  • Keep accurate records and contribute to updating care plans

  • Spot and report any changes in residents’ wellbeing, physical or emotional

  • Step in when needed to keep the shift calm, caring and running smoothly

What We’d Love You to Bring

This is a leadership role, so we’re looking for someone who can tick all of the following:

  • You’re kind, confident and reliable. Someone others naturally turn to

  • You’ve worked in care and know what good support looks like

  • Good understanding of safeguarding, MCA and DoLS

  • You’ve got an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or you’re working towards it)

  • You lead by example and communicate clearly, even under pressure

  • You’re a thoughtful team player who others enjoy working with

  • You’re confident using digital tools to keep records clear and up to date

Salary and Benefits

  • Monday - Friday £13.80  & weekend £15.18 + overtime is paid at £1.00 extra per hour

  • Attendance bonus + 50p per hour if all shifts are attended each month - T&C's apply

We currently operate six care homes and a domiciliary care service, serving 160 people. Island Healthcare is passionate about our residents and put them at the heart of everything we do.
